The Bible Room
Opening off the Treasure Room is the Bible Room, paneled in English oak. On view is a continuing exhibit on Bible translation and utilization, a project of the National Council of Churches.
In the current exhibit photographs show the finding of the Dead Sea Scrolls which impacted Bible translations. The exhibit also includes a sound-bite from the late Rev. Dr. Bruce Metzger, who was the secretary of the Committee of Translators for the Revised Standard Bible and chairman of the Committee on Translators for the New Revised Standard edition. Open to visitors whenever the Treasure Room is open, the Bible Room is in honor of Dr. Luther Weigle, who gave the Center his own manuscript translation of the Revised Standard Version of the Bible.
