World Day of Prayer International Committee

World Day of Prayer (WDP) is a worldwide movement of Christian women from all traditions who come together to observe a common day of prayer each year. Many countries have a continuing relationship of prayer and service. The common day of prayer, which is celebrated annually on the first Friday of March, is an opportunity to share—spiritually, educationally, and ecumenically—in informed prayer and prayerful action. The World Day of Prayer International Committee coordinates the development and distribution of the unique worship services based on the year’s chosen themes and including issues that women face in the country responsible for preparing the worship materials. The movement is carried out by women ecumenically organized into National/Regional committees throughout countries in Africa, Asia, Caribbean, Europe, Latin America, Middle East, North America, and Pacific. These National/Regional committees are linked together as one body through the work of the International Committee.
