In his Retrospective show, Witnessing Faith: Photographs of Worship and
Celebration, Bob Gore shares a collection of images from his life long interest in
observing the various ways that people from all walks of life celebrate and
express their Faith. In this wide ranging collection of images, Bob shares his eyewitness
experiences with Christian, Jewish and Muslim believers of African
descent in various celebrations in the five boroughs and beyond. The range is
vast and includes: The Maroon festival in Jamaica, a profile of an African-
American monk at St. Joseph’s Abby in Massachusetts, a preacher whose flock
rides the A Train, indigenous worship in Haiti, the ordination of ministers at The
Abyssinian Baptist Church Harlem, the ordination of priests in St. Patrick’s
Cathedral, the joy of a christening in and Bronx and a mass baptism in the
Atlantic Ocean, multilingual preaching in Curacao and Curtis Blow’s Hip Hop
church. We hope you’ll have a chance to view this incredible collection of images
that shine a light on Faith in community.
