Jessica Dalrymple – Urbanscapes
Jessica Dalrymple’s show “Urbanscapes” exhibits paintings that celebrate “nature in the city”. The show includes landscapes of NYC shorelines inspired by past, present, and future imagery such as historic salt marshes along Brooklyn’s Gowanus Bay, apple orchards beside Newtown Creek estuary, and futuristic “green” solutions atop present day infastructure. Also on view are zoomed-in depictions of native and non-native plant and animal species the artist encountered while developing this series. Finally, renewable energy landscapes round out the show and speak to the theme of urban environmentalism which underlies the body of work.
