Welcome to the cultural programs of the Interchurch Center. A full schedule of exciting artistic events is available throughout the calendar year. On Wednesdays at noon in the Chapel, one can enjoy an eclectic sampling of musical events from voice to instrument, classical to contemporary, and solo to group performances. Many well-known musicians as well as yet to be known artists are featured.
Programs take place on the main floor of the building which includes the newly renovated Chapel, two professional art exhibition spaces - a 2,000 square foot gallery and twenty lobby display cases, a lounge/conference center, and full dining and cafeteria services. Permanent installations of art include a large scale Lenore Tawney tapestry, an Israel Levitan ceiling sculpture and two dynamic wood sculptures by Nicolae Golici. These can be viewed in the narthex of the Chapel.
From 9 am to 5 pm one can always visit the Treasure Room Gallery, located in the southwest corner of the main floor to view professional exhibitions of the visual arts. Painting, sculpture, prints, drawings, textiles, and photographs are just a few of the media one might see and contemplate. A stroll through the north and south side of the corridors of the main floor reveal twenty well lit display windows which continue the visitor's viewing pleasure of creative talents. Once a month from 4 to 7 pm one can attend the artist's reception to meet and greet the featured exhibitors. Make sure to pick up an informative brochure which lists and highlights the works in the exhibition and the artist or group featured.
Enjoy special events and activities which are scheduled periodically in the main floor lounge, chapel and gallery, often during noon hour. Possibilities might include a film screening, book review, demonstration of an art technique or cultural heritage celebrations.
All areas of the main floor are accessible to the handicapped. Events sponsored by The Interchurch Center are free and open to the public, unless otherwise noted.
