Jessica Sporn seeks to illuminate how our hopes and dreams impact the world and how we all bring our pasts with us as we step into the future. Using photographs of her family and ancestors, personal memorabilia, found objects and semi - precious stones, she creates layered paintings, spirit houses and altars. Her works focus on the interconnectedness of all beings with the hope that people will be moved to actions of peace and compassion to make the world a safer and more loving place. Ms. Sporn's work has been exhibited at The Montclair Art Museum, Studio Montclair's Annual exhibitions and open studio tours. Currently she has two pieces on exhibit at the Fredericksburg Center for Creative Arts in Fredericksburg, Virginia in a show entitled : "Dialogue, Romance & Nature". Two more works will be on exhibition at the Jerusalem Fund Gallery in Washington D.C., one of which, "Capacity to Forgive" has been honored with an award.

Marilyn Henrion makes exquisitely detailed art quilts which elevate the traditional craft of quiltmaking to a high level of sophisticated contemporary art making. The combination of richly textured fabrics, the reflected light and dazzle of juxtaposed colors as they intersect and the tiny hand wrought stitches join together to create a luscious and aesthetic viewing experience. A graduate of Cooper Union, her works have been exhibited and acclaimed internationally and are included in museum, corporate and private collections. Ms. Henrion is a 2005 recipient of an Artist Fellowship from The New York Foundation for the Arts and will be presenting a talk and demonstration on December 13 (Tuesday) in the gallery of her art making process. This presentation is cosponsored by Artists & Audience Exchange, a public program of NYFA.

The Galleries at The Interchurch Center are pleased to present "Ancestral Voices", acrylic and mixed media artworks by Jessica Sporn in the Corridor Gallery and "Silk Road Journeys: Selected Works 1996 -2005", art quilts by Marilyn Henrion in the Treasure Room Gallery from December 1 - 30, 2005. Art can speak in many voices, guiding the viewer to a higher realm of thinking and being. Ms. Sporn's work is a celebration of many cultures, faiths and generations, embracing the spirit of global peace for our world. Ms. Henrion creates hand stitched art quilts which transcend art/craft categories and joyously celebrate the hand made work of art. The emotional and artistic impact of these works create a standard for the holiday season.
