Office Entrance DoorsIt has come to our attention that many tenants are leaving their entrance doors in an open position during the day.
The entrance doors to each suite must be closed according to New York City Building Department/Fire Code. Entrance doors are fire rated and are designed to prevent fire from spreading into or out of your space. Entrance doors cannot serve the purpose if the doors are kept opened. Obviously if doors are left open, fire cannot be contained.
For the building’s HVAC system to work efficiently, the entrance door must be closed. The system is designed to provide air at different volumes for corridors and office areas. If your entrance door is open, you’re providing air conditioning to the public corridor.
Also, the entrance doors should be kept closed for your security. It’s the simplest step you can take to deter strangers from entering your space. With the holiday season approaching, everyone should be more aware of security within their own space.

Package Removal Policy
It is The Interchurch Center’s policy that when a tenant employee leaves the building with any boxes/packages, including personal property, a yellow package removal permit, signed by an authorized person from that Agency, must be given to the security guard.
It has come to our attention that some individuals are leaving the building with boxes/packages without a pass for the contents and, in some cases, refusing to open the box for inspection.
The reason given is that the box was mailed to that individual at this address. This is not an acceptable reason for not presenting a pass to remove items from the building. If these items are personal, perhaps they should be mailed to the individual’s home. Once they enter The Interchurch Center, they become a security concern for the building.
If this procedure is not acceptable to certain employees, I recommend that Tenants re-think their policy of allowing these employees to have personal items mailed to this address. |
Holiday SecurityThe Holidays are approaching and, while these days are meant to be a joyful celebration, they are unfortunately also a time of financial need and stress for some.
Please make sure your entrance door is locked when the office is unattended (even for a short period of time) or if your reception area is not staffed. Also please keep all valuables (including bags, pocketbooks and briefcases) out of sight, preferably in a locked desk.
If you notice any individual who does not belong on your floor, contact security at ext. 3111 or 2140. |
Opening of Suite Doors
Please be advised that there is a charge of $25.00 to have building personnel open doors for tenants who leave their keys home, lost their key, have left their keys in their desk and locked themselves out of their office when they went to the restroom, etc.
This amount will be charged to the respective Tenant agency on its following month’s rent bill. If the employee requesting access does not have level 1 or level 2 security clearance (an orange pass or a blue pass) building personnel will not allow them to enter the office. In that case the individual will need to contact someone in their organization with level 2-security clearance to let them into the space.
If any agency head or business manager does not want building personnel to open doors, when requested by your employees, please send a letter to the Property Manager, to be kept on file and advise your employees of your policy. |
