Feature Article: Trustee’s Award Ceremony

 

 

Each year, the Board of Trustees of The Interchurch Center hosts an awards reception. This reception is to honor the awards recipients for their years of excellence, dedication and service to The Interchurch Center community.

FLIK International Corp. was founded in 1971 and is a member of the Compass Group, headquartered in Rye, NY.  FLIK’s high quality food standards and ability to execute the details are primarily responsible for their impressive growth and outstanding reputation in the industry.

 

FLIK contracted with The Interchurch Center in 1977. Their success as well as the ever growing complexity of their account base has led FLIK to develop a highly sophisticated organization featuring unparalleled levels of corporate support for all clients.

 

The Interchurch Center wishes to congratulate FLIK on their success and the outstanding service that they provide to the tenants of 475 Riverside Drive.

Joanne Fernandez came to the Interchurch Center in 1966 after college to work for the UPUSA/COEMAR office.   After a 4 -month stint at a bank, it was obvious that she needed to be in the church world. 

 

She began working for the Reformed Church in America in 1968 and I will retire in 2006.   Personnel work, meeting planner, and office manager in the RCA, and numerous committee tasks in The Interchurch Center and now Chair of the Board of Trustees of The Interchurch Center.  A great 40 years!!

Barbara Suarez was born in New York State and raised in North Carolina.  At an early age, she traveled around the world with her mother, who was a registered nurse in the military. Barbara joined CWS/NCC in the mid-1970’s working in the former Southern Asia office. She currently is the administrative assistant to the director of the Social & Economic Development Program of Church World Service.  Barbara also serves as a co-coordinator for the CWS New York CROP walks.   Barbara has an Associates Degree in Business Administration. She is an official of the Superior Court of New Jersey Supervisory Visitation Program; a certified paralegal, a notary public commissioned in the states of New York and New Jersey.  Barbara is a personal financial analyst of Primerica, a member of citigroup. She is the coordinator and chaplain for the Interchurch Center Gospel Choir and she participates on various committees in the TIC community.

 

Barbara is very active in her church’s community outreach activities and youth programs.  Barbara has three children and three grandchildren and a very large family of siblings.

Anil Vig joined the Grubb & Ellis team in 1990. Prior to that time, Anil worked as an Operations Manager for Midway Airliner at LaGuardia Airport and Midway Airport in Chicago.

 

Anil began at TIC as the Loading Dock Attendant, the position now held by Brain Bailey. In 1996, Anil became a Security Guard, stationed in the main lobby. He quickly familiarized himself with the procedures at the front desk as well as Fire / Life Safety and is currently enrolled in classes to become the Fire Safety Director for TIC. In 1998, Anil was promoted to Head Security Guard and coordinates the functions of the loading dock, garage, front desk, lobby security and elevator starter on a daily basis. Anil has proven to be a valued contributor to the TIC community and we are pleased that we have the opportunity to show him our appreciation.

 

Anil lives in Queens with Sonia, his wife of 15 years and their two boys, Vishal, 12 and Rahul, 10.
