HEALTH SERVICE OFFERS FLU AND PNEUMONIA SHOTS

TIC Medical Office will be offering the Flu vaccine and Pneumonia injections starting October 3rd.

As in the past the Seasonal Influenza Virus Vaccine will help reduce the chances of acquiring influenza infection. It is known definitely that “Seasonal Influenza Virus Vaccine” is not effective against all possible strains of influenza virus. Protection is afforded most people only against those strains of virus from which the vaccine is prepared or against closely related strains.

An annual routine influenza immunization is strongly recommended for all persons for whom there is a higher-than-average potential for infection. Those who have an allergy to eggs should not receive the injection. The cost of the Seasonal Influenza Virus Vaccine injection this year will be $25.00.

Immunization against Pneumococcal pneumonia is recommended for the following: Individuals over age 65 and/or with chronic or systemic illnesses (heart disease, renal disease, pulmonary disease, diabetes, malignant tumors), individuals of all ages with sickle cell disease, and individuals of all ages who do not have a spleen as a result of surgical removal. The cost of the Pneumococcal vaccine injection will be $55.00
